What Is God To The Orphan?

What Is God To The Orphan?

Psalms 10:14b

The unfortunate commits himself to Thee; Thou hast been the helper of the orphan.

Best Seller?

We wanted to share the words of wisdom from Cec Murphy. He is a very talented author and loves to share his writing tips with fellow writers. We hope you enjoy today’s featured link.

Best seller? What’s that? How do we define the term best seller? I see it used constantly along with “award-winning author.”

In the latter, if a group of eight people can vote your book is the best of the year for the Deadwood Writers Association, does that make you an award-winning author? Apparently some think so. To use the term loosely, cheapens the meaning and relevancy of the term. Click here to read more.

Be Strong

Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.”

Joshua 10:25

Do Genes Matter?

Do Genes Matter?

Many infertile couples struggle with adopting because they won’t be passing on their genes. It’s natural to wonder what your birth child would look like, but how important is it really? Once a child is yours, he or she is yours. I have both biological and adopted children. I can assure you, it matters little.

A Diamond in the Rough,

You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.  You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.

Job 11:18-19

Why Send In Submissions?

Have you ever been afraid to submit something to an agent or editor? We have struggled with that. The fear of the unknown and what others think of our writing can sometimes hold us back. Today’s featured link offers some advice for writers to make that step a little bit easier.

Pressing the send button for that first submission can be the most nerve-racking, push-of-the-button feat ever tackled.

Infertility Teaches Patience

The Value of Patience

If you’re like me, and I believe most of us are, the word patience makes my skin crawl. In today’s instant society, we don’t want to wait in line for anything. We desire to check off our “to do” list as soon as possible, and move on to something else.

Waiting to have a child was not in our plans. We just assumed, we would conceive as soon as we decided it was time to have a child. This assumption comes from an erroneous belief that we are in control.

God used this delay for us to adjust our thinking. He is in control and we must not think otherwise. Waiting for God’s timing prepares us for the task of parenting. A patient parent is a good parent.

A Diamond in the Rough,

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade–kept in heaven for you,  who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.  In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

I Peter 1:3-6

Humor In Writing

It is important to add humor in our writing. We all enjoy a good chuckle daily and our readers need to find laughter in our manuscripts. Today’s featured post encourages us as writers to incorporate humor into our stories.

Don’t we need humor in life to make it through? Life is hard. I have two very serious jobs. I’m a real life pediatric ER RN and a suspense novelist. Those can be heavy days but they can also be fun days—by using a little humor to get through. Click here to read the rest of this informative article.
